Our workshops are more hands-on than our regular classes. Here is our current list:
Building Garden Structures (One Project Per Session)
These occasional sessions will focus on building one structure that meets a specific garden need. During the workshop, instructors will review tools and techniques for garden construction, and then participants will be guided through building their own structure. Materials and a limited selection of tools will be provided; participants are encouraged to bring their own tools, if available.
(February-April & August-October, 2.5 hrs., $40-$100 depending on the project)
Cooking and Eating In Season
This workshop takes place in the kitchen. Each class will include demonstration, taste-testing, and hands-on practice. Emphasis is placed on creative use of especially bountiful producers (like zucchini)!
(March/June/September, 2.5 hrs., $40)
Preserving the Harvest
Each session of this hands-on workshop teaches a specific method of food preservation, and gives participants a chance to practice it.
(July-October, 2.5 hrs., $40)
Planning Your Garden in the Off-Season (3-Session Series)
You’ve bought some seeds, started some starts, and chosen a garden spot—but where will you plant what, and when? In this workshop series, we will address three dimensions of garden planning in depth: identifying your garden needs/wants and goal-setting (session 1), mapping your site and creating effective infrastructure for your garden space (session 2), and creating a garden timeline/calendaring your activities throughout the growing season (session 3).
(October-February, 2.5 hrs., $40 per session or $100 for all 3)

I met you at the West Linn Farmers Market and am interested in the Intro to Cooking in Season class, but I didn’t see that option. I live in an apartment setting, and would be more interested in the wooden-barrel-type-garden setting since I don’t think my landlord would appreciate my taking over the front in such a permanent way as a raised bed implies… Plus I tend to have a black thumb! Any class suggestions? Or should I just join the reading groups and build up knowledge?
