Chicken Coops
Independence Gardens’ standard chicken coop design is built to suit the City of Portland’s household limit of three hens. It features secure safety latches, a coop-length perch, an easy-to-clean nest box, and optional critter-resistant hardware cloth sides. As with most Independence Garden products, prices for custom designs reflect additional materials/labor costs.
Chicken Tractors
The Independence Gardens chicken tractor design is light and easy to maneuver so that birds can be moved regularly. It is also safe and roomy enough for hens to nest inside. IG chicken tractors feature a sheltered area for birds to stay warm and dry, and plenty of room to roam.
Chicken-Proofing
Chickens are wonderful additions to any yard, but left to their own devices, they will eat your garden’s harvest before you get to it! So that you can have fresh eggs and fresh fruits and veggies, too, Independence Gardens will help chicken-proof your entire garden area, or just the more vulnerable plants.
Raised Beds
When possible, Independence Gardens’ raised beds are built with Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)-certified wood. According to customer preferences, rectangular beds of various sizes (2’ x 2’, 2’ x 4’, 4’ x 8’, etc.) and heights (6″, 8″, 10″, 12″) can be constructed; custom shapes can be designed to fit unique spaces and special garden needs.
Container Gardens
Gardens don’t have to be dug into the ground, and they don’t have to be big. Whether you’re on a houseboat or in an apartment, have limited mobility, or just don’t want your plants to stray too far from your kitchen windowsill, Independence Gardens will help you build and fill easy-to-maintain containers from which you can harvest convenient and delicious edibles.
Cold Frames and Cloches
Looking to get a jump-start at the beginning of the growing season, extend your harvest into the colder months, eat fresh produce through the winter, or generally get the most out of your garden? Independence Gardens’ cloches and cold frames will help you do just that.
Please fill out our Consultation Questionnaire and send it to IndependenceGardensPDX@gmail.com if you would like us to come talk with you about incorporating any of the options above into your garden space.
