About Chicken Shirts

Neon Chicken Shirt signOur Chicken Shirts originated as a holiday gift idea for family and friends in 2008. Karen designed the chicken graphic, and hand-stenciled the originals on shirts she bought at Goodwill.

Then, we started thinking about how t-shirts could help us reach out to people who are gardening…and people who aren’t (yet)…and spread the word about what we’re up to.

Less than a year later, we rolled out the Chicken Shirts in feed stores and local shops…and shortly thereafter, two new designs joined the family: the Goat Tee and the Bull! All of our shirts are organic cotton and locally screen-printed by EvolTwin Printing.

I’m a bit confused about the sizes. A women’s large is usually a men’s small. Any suggestions?

  2. Hi, Debbie–thanks for asking! We’ve found that these sizes run just a wee bit smaller than regular men’s shirts. Isabel and I (Karen) wear medium and small shirts, respectively. We will try to post some pictures soon of people wearing the shirts and identify the sizes, to give folks a better idea of how that works.

Hi you guys. It was great meeting you yesterday at the expo center. I’m the photog who wants to shoot a chicken in a shirt. I bought a onsie and the more I think about it the 6 mos size is way to small. Know you are busy this weekend buy you have my card and if you could give me a call and I could exchange it even for a toddler t I think that’s a better idea.
    thanks

  4. Hi! We don’t mean to be ignoring you–have just been really busy. We’ll do our best to call you, but if you get a chance to call us first, please do: 503-929-7170.

Take care, and we’re very much looking forward to seeing you again soon–and doing the ChickenShirtShoot!

    =)

I love the design. any chance you could put in on a tank top or hoodie? I never regular t shirts

    (a ladies tank top)

  6. We definitely plan on making a hoodie, but not in the summer… We have also had requests for ladies’ tees. If we have enough requests for those (or enough retailers that want to carry them), we will get ‘em made. Till then…we could make one as a special order if you would be willing to pay a bit extra for it. Then you could have our own unique Chicken Shirt! :)
